Emergency Ride Home Program

Though you may never need it (and we hope you won’t), you have a ride home if an emergency ever strikes. The Emergency Ride Home Program is an insurance program that guarantees employees participating in the carpool program will have a timely and inexpensive way to leave work in the event of unforeseen personal or family emergencies, illness, or unexpected employment related delays such as unscheduled overtime. This program is meant to increase employee participation in Green Machine by removing the barriers associated with ridesharing in the event of an emergency. Employees will be able to track their participation in the rideshare program through sharetheridenc.org. This data will be used to determine whether or not an employee is eligible. The GRH program is only meant for individuals who must leave earlier or later than their scheduled shift due to an emergency, illness, unexpected work related delays, or individuals whose rideshare partner is unexpectedly effected by one of the above reasons. This benefit will not be available for use in the case of preplanned events, such as scheduled doctor appointments, scheduled overtime, or on days that alternative transportation options were not used. Sierra Nevada retains the right to refuse participation in this program in situations where the GRH program is abused or when the employees request does not comply with the specified requirements of the program.

Emergency Ride Home (ERH) is available when:

• You or an immediate family member gets sick or has a severe crisis that requires you to leave work early
• Your carpool driver has to unexpectedly leave early or stay late
• You must work unscheduled overtime

If you need to pick up your sick child or pick up medication, you may make a side trip on the way home. ERH is at your service so you never have to worry about finding a ride when you need it most.

Using the program is easy, and the ride is free

To redeem, employees must call or text Asheville Taxis Co. to schedule a ride and pick up a voucher from your supervisor or the sustainability office. When picking up a voucher, employees must sign out with their name, the date, and the general location of their drop off for internal tracking. Vouchers will be given to the taxis driver as proof of participation in the program and SNBC will be charged directly for the trip

To qualify for ERH you must have commuted to work the day of the needed ride. ERH is not available for use when rides are effected by pre-planned events like doctor appointments, or scheduled work changes.
